Hawthorn is a thorny shrub that grows spontaneously on roadsides and is often used in hedges throughout Europe. It can reach a height of 10m, and in the past, flowering hawthorn twigs were woven into ornamental wreaths at weddings to bring happiness and fertility to the bride and groom or were placed at the cradle of babies to protect them from evil spirits. Hawthorn flowers, leaves, branches and fruits are used medicinally. Both fruits and flowers are used to make infusions, capsules and tinctures.
