Milk thistle is a plant known since the time of Hyeronimus Bosch (595), having been used for liver conditions since the 18th century. The extract of this plant supports the health of the liver and gallbladder.
Turmeric extract with 95% Curcuminoids (highest concentration, high-efficacy extract) improves liver function, affecting its capacity to detoxify xenobiotic chemicals (chemical compounds present in the body but not produced by it). The ability of curcuminoids to inhibit a series of factors, such as Nuclear Factor-kappaB, which modulates many proinflammatory and profibrotic cytokines, together with their antioxidant properties, provides high efficacy in hepatic disorders. Curcumin attenuates liver lesions induced by ethanol, thioacetamide, iron overdose, acute subchronic and chronic cholestasis, carbon tetrachloride, poisoning, and cirrhosis.
Dandelion root cleanses the liver of toxins, prevents its deterioration and contributes to its proper function. It has a choleretic-cholagogue effect, i.e. it stimulates bile secretion and helps its evacuation into the duodenum. Therefore it is very useful in biliary colic (gallbladder attacks) to release bile from the gallbladder.
Artichoke has a choleretic-cholagogue effect (stimulates bile secretion and excretion), also stimulates and improves digestion, and protects liver cells. It has diuretic, cleansing and blood-purifying action. It increases cholesterol excretion via bile and helps normalize blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
Vitamin C contributes to the maintenance of normal immune system function and to normal energy-yielding metabolism, to the normal function of the nervous system, and to the maintenance of psychological health. It helps protect cells from oxidative stress, reduces tiredness and fatigue, supports normal immune system function, and regenerates the reduced form of vitamin E. It also increases iron absorption.
Zinc is extremely important due to its presence in every tissue of the body and its direct involvement in cell division, also being a powerful antioxidant. Zinc affects protein synthesis and is necessary for the proper functioning of white and red blood cells. Zinc is involved in maintaining normal hormone levels. The largest amounts of zinc are concentrated in the bones, pancreas, kidneys, liver and retina.
Vitamin C and zinc contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system and to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
Vitamin B6 contributes to normal protein and glycogen metabolism, normal formation of red blood cells, normal immune system function, and regulation of hormonal activity.
